Our Christian Vision

The parable of the Good Samaritan calls us to demonstrate compassion and seek opportunities to support one another.

‘Go and do likewise’

At Sturry Church of England Primary School, we empower both pupils and adults to unlock their God-given potential as they navigate the pathway of life in an ever-changing, modern world.

We strive to equip everyone with the ability to embody Christian values such as perseverance, leadership, aspiration, collaboration, empathy, and support. In our community, the parable of the Good Samaritan resonates deeply, guiding us to follow the example of Jesus by ‘loving our neighbour’ and committing to ‘go and do likewise’.

Together, we nurture a compassionate environment that reflects commitment to each other.

We are going PLACES

At Sturry C E Primary School, we are driven by our commitment to create an environment that enables children to flourish. We strive to equip all of God’s children with the values of Perseverance, Leadership, Aspiration, Collaboration, Empathy and Support, giving them the keys to open the various doors, as they journey on the pathway of life in the ever changing world.

SIAMS

Under the Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools, our school was inspected on the 19th March 2023 and received an overall grade of Good.

“Collaborative practice within the Stour Academy Trust helps direct the development of teaching and thus the growth of all as life-long learners.”

“Underpinned by a striving for justice and generosity, all are committed to and involved in sharing what they have. This is a key part of their spiritual development.”

“Pupils see themselves as agents for change making the world a better place for everyone.”

“United around its vision, this school exemplifies that by sharing the best of ourselves, all in the school community and beyond are given opportunities to flourish.”

Buddies

Our buddies learn how to model their school Christian values and how to be a good example and encourage others to do the right thing. The buddies have explored what it means to have empathy and compassion to be able to help others in our school. They have learnt how to make good and wise decisions when they deal with problems that the children they are helping have at school.

Helping our community on their spiritual journey.

Threaded throughout our school environment, prayer spaces are easily accessed by children and members of our community. Our prayer stations encourage community members of all faiths, or no faiths of all, to explore and engage, through a variety of ways, life’s questions, spirituality and faith in a safe, creative and interactive way.

We want to encourage and instil our children and staff with skills of courageous advocacy – to develop a greater awareness of the challenges others face in life-, and reflect on how they, as individuals, and as a school community, can support and make a difference in our local community and further afield.

Spiritual Progression

Our definition of Spirituality is: something that touches us all. It is a connection to something that is bigger than ourselves. It is about awe and wonder, asking ultimate questions and being inspired to look beyond ourselves and serve and care for others and nature.
