Today in Year 3 we had a wonderfully creative day exploring how artists use imagination to bring unusual creatures and ideas to life. We began by looking closely at the magical sculpture work of Ray Harryhausen, thinking about how we look at art and using helpful questions to guide our observations. Using these “artist eyes,” the children then designed their own fantastic creatures. Later, we explored Anthony Browne’s clever use of simple shapes to spark imagination. Each child started with a plain circle and transformed it into something completely new — a character, an object, or a whole scene. It was a cheerful, imaginative day full of creativity. There were lots of fantastic ideas!!
