Number Bonds

Children in Key Stage One and the Foundation Stage will be taking part in a Number Bond Challenge! Initially, this will involve learning number bonds for 5. For example, 0 + 5= 5, 1 + 4 = 5 and so on, then followed by bonds for 10, 20 and 100.

Homework will be set regularly to practise these number bonds and children will be informally tested each week/fortnight. Once a child has correctly answered all the questions for the bonds they are learning they will receive a certificate and special mathematics sticker, presented to them in assembly time.

We hope you will enjoy supporting your child in learning their number bonds, as this will help them in order to progress in their mental mathematics.

If you have any questions please either see myself or your child’s class teacher.

Please see below a list of possible games you may play with your child and websites which you could use with your child to reinforce their learning of their number bonds.

Thank-you in anticipation of your continued support,

Mrs V Acors (Numeracy Co-ordinator)
